“The Attitude of Prayer”

Prayer is the vital communication with God. Communication is so vital for existence, that which is needed in order to keep our head above the waters of life. The challenges of life could be poverty, strife, contention, dissatisfaction or barrenness. These challenges could be overcome through prayer. Prayer is of essence because you attract the presence of God. When God is invited into your situation, you are in charge; the Bible says, “commit your ways unto the lord and your thoughts shall be established.” When your pray, your heart desires will come to pass. Prayer is an instrument, it is a tool; but what I do not like, what appalls me is how people misuse this tool, people usually go to God only when they have problems. I feel really bad about this, God is not a toy, he cannot be fooled, people treat God as in the reverse of his name, D.O.G.. What marvels me is God’s mercy, his mercy is abundant, God is very merciful. I want people to relate with God as a father to a son or daughter, don’t lose your words, chat with him on the road, as you mow the lawn, when you are confused or down. God is everywhere, he can hear you whatsoever language, tribe, race or hue. Involve him in your life issues, seek his consent, ask him what he thinks about a situation and he will honour you and you will lead a better life.

Cheers!

“The Procrastination Instinct”

Several times you must have hesitated in taking certain steps despite its importance. Most times, the after-effect is regret. In order to avoid regrets, one has to go against his procrastination instinct. To procrastinate means “to postpone doing something.” What is the essence of procrastinating when you can do it now?. A popular maxim by Benjamin Franklin states that, “Never leave that till tomorrow which you can do today.” Even the Holy Bible condemned procrastination in Proverbs 3 vs. 28 (KJV) which states that, “Say not unto thy neighbor, go and come again and tomorrow I will give; when thou has it by thee.”; that is, do not procrastinate. I know a friend who was really brilliant at high school; all eyes were on her shortly after graduation, many were curious to know what would become of her shortly after high school. When it was time to gain entry into university, she procrastinated on pursuing it herself and relied on the unauthentic information of her friends. She continued to procrastinate daily until the entry to her university of choice was closed. It was too late for her and she had to pay for it with a year off school, she regretted. Considering her previous achievements, it was shameful for her to bear. No matter what and no matter how, procrastination would lead to regret. If only this friend had taken the bold step once and for all, her story would have been different. Bearing the end in mind could be a motivator that fuels your action and gears you up against procrastination. You could ask yourself, “why do I have to do this?”, you could also take the first smallest step towards the task, this could help you to maintain concentration and have you eventually do what you have to do.
Just as this friend, many have suffered humiliation due to procrastination.

Confront your procrastination instinct!

“The Power of Silence”

To be prudent is to be careful; a prudent man is a careful man. Most careful persons usually do not talk too much. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 10 vs. 12 that “the words of the wise man’s mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself (KJV).” A popular adage says that, “silence never makes mistakes”, if you do not know what to say, it is best to keep silent, it is safer not to respond in words than to talk and say the wrong things. From experience, I have concluded that the enemy carefully sieves your words and uses them against you; one must be very careful with his speech, the more you talk, the more you increase your propensity to get into trouble. Big winners do not make a lot of noise, they are noise creators not noise makers, they are the reason why other people talk, they are not the talkers. One day, I was playing cards, I had the confidence I was going to win then I started bragging, I wanted to intimidate my opponent with my words but surprisingly, my opponent said nothing, I played with full concentration so that my highfalutin words would not be in vain; I played my first and second cards and I had two cards left, it was my opponent’s turn to play and I was thinking deeply on my next move, I waited for my opponent until I had to ask her to play, I then noticed that her hands were empty just in two moves then she told me she had won game, the game had ended; I had no excuse and then she gracefully stood up and left. I was humbled!. I learned that big winners enjoy perfect silence. Do not forget that silence never make mistakes. To be silent does not mean you are absent; rather, you make your presence through silence.

“Something on Vision”

There are individuals in this world that have the privilege of receiving something from God in form of revelation, this is called Vision. Many people look but they do not see. God has chosen a group of people to carryout his mandate and they will never be scarce. People of vision rule because they have the best picture of what God has revealed to them. Vision cannot be copied. It cannot be over-emphasized that people are needed to help run a vision, people of vision rule because they must carry along those they sell their vision to and this fact is constant, they best understand the picture they saw, they know what they want at the end and they are the best persons to champion the course. In as much as we have people of vision, there are many visionless persons, people who lack vision are those who do not have an agenda for the future, they do not have something to nurture and a large majority of people are visionless. People of vision develop themselves, they develop themselves so as to remain relevant in their world, no man can go beyond the scope of his knowledge. If you are solving Mathematics and you cannot go further in solving it, the reason is because your scope of knowledge for that math problem is limited to where you stopped. For people of vision to rule over the visionless, they need to continually develop themselves because the population of visionless people is usually higher, and to avoid being choked up by these ones, there is a need for a continual developmental process.

“A More Perfect Union”

We the People!, in order to form a more perfect union need to know that for a nation to grow, unity cannot be over-emphasized. Unity entails cooperation and acceptance not just of who we are but what we stand for; an acceptance of values, an acceptance of norms, an acceptance of colour, an acceptance of beliefs. We require a more perfect union for better development and sustainable growth. It has never been heard that unity failed, it has never been heard that there have been no development in the presence of unity. From my conversation with people, I have identified the desire for unity and the thirst for cooperation. An African proverb states that, “just a tree cannot make a herb.” In the same light, just a person cannot unite on his own; it takes the approval and acceptance of you and I. I have observed and theories have confirmed that unity never fails. Let us be united, let us leave and forget the past, let us leave and forget the previous conflicts. Our problems affect all of us so are our successes would be.

Let us form a more perfect union!

“Poised to be Great!”

Greatness is the essence of impact. Every great man is a man of impact, a man that has deposited much out of the little he has. Every man has a little of something, though it may take some time to discover, great men understand this fact and they forge ahead to discover it early. I am poised to be great!

Great men of impact are celebrated forever, that is what makes them great. Great men have gallantly left legacies as a legal seed to germinate in the hearts of men when they are long gone. If your impact is not felt when you are long gone, then you are not great. I am poised to be great!

It is important to know that much of the great man’s work is in his closet, all he does fights against his sleep and his sleeping hours. I am poised to be great!

“The Unbearable Concept of Rejection”

The pain of rejection cannot be equally quantified or qualified. It leads to a feeling of helplessness, hopelessness and grief. Many may not know what it means to look through the purlieus of one’s life and come to a conclusion that there is no solution, that is, no more opportunities available in one’s life. It is like being caught in an ambush, under duress. No wonder many people have decided to take their life rather than try any further. No one can truly understand the pain of rejection; neither can he understand the value of acceptance until he is rejected. For one to overcome the trauma of rejection, it requires a lot of energy, courage and strength. Many individuals do not know how far their smiles can go, many do not know how far their hugs can reach, neither do they understand the extent their parting words could reach, but, most times we feel comfortable to displace or vent our pent-up emotions in the name of pouring out our heart only to hurt someone else who probably is suffering heartbreak, why not swallow it up at times and let time take its course?, or just say ‘sorry’ for peace sake even when you seem not to be at fault, that is maturity. To me, maturity is simply the ability to manage one’s emotions; or as social scientists may call it, emotional intelligence. If you look through the problems of others, you would find out that most times the deep root of it is external, before the problem cuts in within. It is very true that time is meant to heal, but, it is still not enough to prevent a scar. Research has it that medically-challenged individuals respond to treatment and improve faster when friends, families and significant others show care, irrespective of their challenge. A lady in a critical condition, awaiting treatment in a New York hospital waited for many hours, she suddenly fell down panting for breath, but many felt she was faking it or just hospital histrionics. Many passed by her, even nurses and the police. After a long while, it was discovered that the woman had died. She actually died due to rejection and neglect. This is how far rejection can go. Many at times, we assume; we assume so much that we think that everyone that laughs or smiles has no problem. One thing you can be sure of if nothing else is that, every human has something to think about. To accept others requires a personal decision to reach out to people no matter the differences, preparing one’s self for the worst of attitudes and the best of gestures. The effect of acceptance cannot be compared to the harm of rejection.
It is our responsibility as humans to cater for the emotions of others because, we are in a complex world where things change rapidly and problems are not written on faces, so, one may never know what others are facing per time. I want to ask you, have you really cared for others?, have you really been managing your emotions effectively?, can you simply say ‘sorry’?.

Cheers!
